I have Seen

“As the leaves fall from the tree unto the path of the passer-by, so it is that you know, the existence of the wind which cannot be seen but the evidence of the wind which is strongly left behind. Just as the work of the wind which can be clearly seen to prove its existence, so it is with the hand of God which work in our midst.” Rei

I have seen how He used a group of people mostly consist of mandarin orange on the outside and potato on the inside, to step out of their comfort zone, and answered to the persistent Macedonia call.

I have seen how He overrode the first idea of the normal usual routine of skit to empower and inspired the planning team with an entirely new worship and outreach interactive radio live program show.

I have seen how He led and guided the direction of the show in every little meeting which He allowed due to the change of schedule, and even allow the planning team to enjoy every moment of the meeting especially the last one at Ikea.

I have seen how He just inspired the promo personnel along the way back to church and come out with the promo tag lines in an instant, which then was also shortened and translated into the popular Radio jingle man.

I have seen how He inspired the individual segment writers in the shortest possible time to come up with the scripts, which can be hilarious but soul searching at the same time.

I have seen how He used the willing souls, to do what was beyond the usual routine beyond what they are unfamiliar with, to translate the scripts from English to Chinese or even to design the wonderful slides.

I have seen how He made some of them step out of the comfort zone to perform for Him and provided the rest of the needed performers voluntarily for each needed roles for every segment of the show.

I have seen how He just brought in the props team together, where we started from 1 person to 2 and even more. Though scattered but in different period of time, to get the props finally fixed up when it matters most on the actual day itself.

I have seen how He inspired the very sickly to write out the content of radio live program show booklet, a souvenir which makes one ponders about life and might change the course of one’s life.

I have seen how He wonderfully provided the needed strength for one who has to burn mid-night oil, just to churn out the layout of the booklet due to the lateness of submission of the content of the booklet.

I have seen how He miraculously not allowed us to delay the printing, just so that the booklet was sent in at the right timing so it could be printed and collected due to the resilience of the person in-charge of it.

I have seen how He intervened and changed the dates of the rehearsal for the show, knowing that Director will not be able to rush out all the editing of the slides that are needed for the show on the original scheduled rehearsal.

I have seen how He continued to inspire the Director to insert the needed verse for 1 part of the news segment which really did make a big impact on the perceptive of the life of many.

I have seen how He granted favor with the person-in-charge of the performance auditorium to a great extend, as the person went all out to help fix the position of the light and provided the needed equipments.

I have seen how He allowed peace in the hearts of many, though the rehearsal was not able to run as planned initially on the actual day of performance.

I have seen how He opened the door for the guitarist, to be allowed to come for the rehearsal and the show, and how the others sisters-in-Christ came along side to shower concern and the love of Him for the guitarist.

I have seen how He looked into the smallest details, some of which might have been overlooked, and provided for the needed people to perform the needed tasks, be it in the distribution of the booklets or even in make-up needed for ladies.

I have seen how He provided the right people with the right answers during an interactive segment beyond what the DJ could have much control over with but He provided.

I have seen how He made perfect the weakness of the each performer because it is indeed in our weakness we are able to find strength to produce what the performers were never able to have accomplished during the past rehearsals.

I have seen how He is willing to answer to our prayers in which many souls come to the saving knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ, where many hands were raised and 29 took courage to step forward to make profession.

I have seen how He touched the heart of his child, a father-to-be in which he placed his hand on the tummy of the unborn child of his beloved wife during the Alter call, entrusting the child to the hand of God.

I have seen how He will used everyone who is willingly to be used by Him be in the major or minor tasks at hand, the joy of just being able to serve Him in any possible little ways.

I have seen how He will look into every little detail and provide for every need because at the end of it, it was all of His work if we learn not to cling to it and fully entrust it to Him.

I have seen the many souls who are in love with Him and I am thankful for their big and little work done because of their love for Him. You know who you are and I should not name you out, least you miss out your reward in heaven. But once again, my heart-felt gratitude, Thank You!

I have seen and because I have seen, I can only thank God for His love, faithfulness, grace and goodness, because all these were made possible only because He was in it from the beginning till the end! Thank You God!

So, my question to you is, “Have you seen it?”

Will you also take a step of faith so that you can also see Him works through you in ways beyond your imagination?

You Were There

“It is because we all share the common love of the One who first loves us, we are able to come together. To support one another, to offer the little we can labor together and most importantly to bond friendship which will last for eternity.” Rei

You were there quietly sitting in the little hall every Friday last year at 6pm even though it was a crucial year for you. A time when most people your age, will choose to stay home and make the best use of time to strive to achieve fantastic colors on a paper which bridge them to the next stage of life. But you choose to seek Him together in the quiet moment of communicating with Him weekly.

You were there to encourage your 2 good friends to join the video learning sessions in which we can learn to better communicate with Him even when we had to rush through 3 lessons in 2 days. If it had not been for you, it could not have been arrange. It is only through these sessions, I manage to get to know the other 2 friends of yours better too.

You were there with the best picture of last year was taken and remain calm when the valuables went missing when the day of fun has ended. Even though all mess up with mud, you chose to return to the venue to just once again check through the rubbish bins of the vicinity.

You were there when help was needed in preparation of the 1st major sports outreach event. When we have all left the venue where preparation took place, you still offered to help out even at the comfort of home when we should all be rather tired after the few days of mad rushes. You were there to really shine from within in the sports outreach event when people of different background came together in your team and a new friendship was eventually formed.

You were there when school started even though we do not know how long you will be around. It was then I really got to know you better and friendship was developed. In your leadership, we managed to re-invent an old publishing into a brand new one. One which is refreshing, gets everyone better connected and perhaps even inspires the hearts of many at times. It only goes to prove that the young are capable of great things as well! So, continue to take charge, yeah?

You were there when all the translations was needed. In the busyness of your schedule, you still managed to squeeze time out to get the booklets printed. If it is not for you making the effort to go and get it printed, all efforts would have been wasted. Most importantly, the people will not have an important souvenir to bring home. A souvenir which might just lead them from death to life in the near future, especially for those who have yet to make the important choice of their life that eventful day, which we can only pray that they will someday.

You were there, my friend. You were there. Now it is time for you to depart for another stage of life this very day. Even though you are still in the same little island, I am sure many of us in class will miss your presence. At least I know I have lost a lunch partner but more than that, I just want you to know that you have really been someone who has been of great help in time of need. Maybe I have told you, maybe I have not. Thanks for being there all these while, being faithful in serving Him even in the smallest insignificant area. Once again, I have to say this, Thank You!

You were there when it counted the most, though many times, it is unknown to others. I am sure you will continue to shine quietly but brightly wherever you go. As you begin on a new journey, remember to get your walking tool fix when you have got the time, just so that you can keep in step with Him!

The Friday that passed, the Sunday that came

“We live in the age of technology which days no longer seem significant as we are caught in the busyness of it all. Time slipped us by too quickly that before we realized, it might be just the last breath of our life.” Rei

Friday is always good and it is even better when it is Good Friday as it spells long weekend! This is a Holiday without fail, years after years will ensure you a weekend longer than the norm. This long weekend came at a cost. A cost out of love. A self sacrificial love beyond human capacity. A love story of God’s love for us at the cost of His own son.

The movie, “The Passion of Christ” by Mel Gibson, perhaps has given us the closest glimpse in the movie industry into 2000 years ago on how Jesus had to suffer for us all. However, even the picture which Gibson tried to portray is unable to draw us any closer to the truth of that very day as it is written:

“So His visage was marred more than any man”. Isaiah 52:14b

This is the indication that Jesus was more horrendously tortured even beyond recognition before He was crucified on the cross. Why did He has to suffer so then? It was longed prophesied in the period between 680 - 720 B.C. in the written Word of God that this was to come:

“But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.” Isaiah 53:5,6

He came, so that the Word may be fulfilled. He came so that all our sins (the wrong things we done) may be upon Him. Most importantly, He came because God love us so much that He gave His son (Jesus) for us that we might be able to have a relationship with us.

Then Sunday came, the Sunday which give us hope! It is perhaps 3 days after what has happened which explain why Jesus is so widely proclaimed around the world:

“The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again… Jesus Himself stood in the midst of them, and said to them, “Peace to you.”… while He blessed them, that He was parted from them and carried up into heaven.” Luke 24:7,36,51

It is only because around 500 people truly witnessed the accession of Jesus Christ to heaven that many of them went on to proclaim the Good News to the point of death as they have the hope of reuniting with each other and especially their Saviour in Heaven when this life has passed. Most importantly, having experienced the love of God, they too now want to share this love & hope to their family, friends and everyone around!

Today if your love ones are in danger of losing their lives. YOU, having found the secret to the cure which will be able to save them, would you not direct them to the cure? It is because I have found the secret to the cure, I am just like a patient trying to share the antidote to the other patient because of the LOVE that I have tasted! If YOU are me, would YOU not do the same?

Because of sin, we are separated from having a relationship with God as our blood is stained. God offer us a blood transfusion at the Cross of Jesus, His son that we may have a renewing of blood so that we can have a relationship with Him.

“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me (Jesus) has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.” John 5:24

As simple as it may sounds to you. All it takes is to pray in your heart to God telling Him you are sorry for your sins and thankful for His love in sending Jesus to die for you. You will like to believe in Jesus and take Him as His Saviour with an ending of “in the name of Jesus I pray, Amen” to the prayer.

A choice is set before you now, will you choose to passed from death into Life?

When Death passes you by Twice

“Death is such a taboo only because we do not want to touch base with reality but death is only real in life” Rei

“Death” – perhaps is a word we often avoid talking about especially in our culture. It is also a word we do not want to think about which create the ever popular mentality of “Eat, drink and be merry! Let us just live as each day passes by!” But the reality is death can knocks at our door anytime without us knowing and in the next instance, we might not even have time to bid anyone goodbye.

May I say we can look at life as in having appointments which is indeed so if you put life into careful observation. Just by looking into a day, you know you have different appointments at different time slot. Take for examples, going to work or going to school itself is an appointment. Having lunch with someone is an appointment. When it is time to go home, it is also another appointment. And so it is, we all have this final appointment which we cannot avoid – “Death”.

I started off the day crossing path with a coffin as I made my way to the first appointment of the day. I started the evening when I am done with another appointment witnessing the same coffin being decorated and with relatives of the decease mourning as they make their way from floor to floor giving the decease in what it seems to me to be a final “farewell “. But a final “farewell” to where? Deep in our hearts, we all know that life does not really ends when we thought it has ended. At least, I know as I recall I was already searching for an answer to this question in my childhood days.

Why do people always have to mourn with so much grieve when one’s life has come to end? Is there no better way to bid goodbye when death knocks at the door of someone you are familiar with? There is, only if you possess the hope of meeting them at a joyous place again. This hope which generates peace in your heart can only be attained only if you yourself are sure of your destination which you will be at the end of the journey to this life. Do you know where you will be then in eternity? Do also bear in mind that eternity means forever. Where will you spend eternity?

It dawns on me then on how often we might have taken the “choice” of life for granted. The privilege to choose is God’s best gift to life. We choose how we want to live this life but we also do choose where we will want to spend eternity. It is because of the opportunity and ability to choose, we have to make a decision in this life because of what Jesus has done for us on the cross.

“For God so loves the world (you) that He gave His only begotten son (Jesus), that whosoever believes in Him (Jesus), shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

As Good Friday draws near, will you take some time to examine the suffering that Jesus had to go through for us so that we can be sure of our final destination when the curtains draw on us. If having done that, it is then back to a choice in life, “to believe” or “not believe” or “not doing anything about it”. Even in choosing “not doing anything about it”, you have already made a choice in it as in “not to believe”.

If you realize by now, we are all accountable for the choices we make in this life which we have to answer to. But this is perhaps the most important choice each of us has to make which we will be all accountable to at the end of it all. The power of the ability to choose lies in your hand. Do you realize you have with you great power in your hand? Will you choose life instead of death then?
